“I am not a literary critic and rarely write reviews, but I so thoroughly enjoyed “Samsara” that I wanted to recommend it to others here. The three main characters were each highly developed, and I quickly came to identify and empathize with each of them as they struggled to overcome their troubled pasts and climb their own inner mountains, while together climbing toward a mountain pass in the Himalayas. Abramczyk shows that he knows what the art of literature is all about when he uses Tibetan culture and Buddhism to generate powerful symbolism, and to provide a compelling backdrop for the narrative.
The main characters face danger and obstacles at every turn as the story delves deeper into their pasts to reveal the reasons why the unlikely trio came to be together, but the author simultaneously provides a steady dose of hilarity that beautifully counterbalances the more serious themes, and that kept me laughing the whole way. As such, I found Samsara to be reminiscent of Edward Abbey’s, ” The Monkey Wrench Gang”.
Samsara is a fast-paced and exciting book. At 600 pages, it is a lengthy novel, but you’ll read it quickly because you’ll find yourself returning to it every spare moment.”
